Oatmeal Stout - All Grain

Recipe Description

We love the Oatmeal Stout style, but wanted more of a daily drinker. Everone who tries this loves it. ABM stands for Anderson Black Majic, maybe a little egotistical, but it is ours!!

  • Batch Size: 10 gal (37.9 L)
  • Boil Size: 11.5 gal (43.5 L)
  • Boil Time: 60 mins

Ingredients

  • Grains/Fermentables
  • 11.5 lbs (5.22 kg) 2-Row Malt (1.7 °L)
  • 3.5 lbs (1.59 kg) Flaked Oats (1 °L)
  • 1.75 lbs (0.79 kg) Crystal 80 (80 °L)
  • 1 lbs (0.45 kg) Chocolate Malt (350 °L)
  • 1 lbs (0.45 kg) Roasted Barley (300 °L)
  • 0.5 lbs (0.23 kg) Black Patent Malt (500 °L)
  • Hops
  • 3 oz (85.05 g) Glacier Pellet 5.6% AA (Boil - 60 mins)
  • Yeast
  • Irish Ale Yeast (Wyeast 1084) (Liquid)

Directions

Infusion Step: Mash at 158 °F (70 °C) for 60 minutes.

Two stage mash if able. 158 for 50 minutes, then increase to 168 for 10 minutes. Otherwise 158 for 60 minutes will work fine.

Hold in primary fermentor for 7 days at 67 °F (19 °C).

Allow to carbonate and age for 14 days at 60 °F (16 °C).
