American-Style Black Ale - All Grain

Recipe Description

I'm just adapting a recipe I found on here to suit my own tastes. I'll repost with results after I'm done

  • Batch Size: 5 gal (18.9 L)
  • Boil Size: 6.5 gal (24.6 L)
  • Boil Time: 60 mins

Ingredients

  • Grains/Fermentables
  • 10 lbs (4.54 kg) 2-Row Malt (2 °L)
  • 1 lbs (0.45 kg) Crystal 40 (40 °L)
  • 8 oz (226.8 g) Midnight Wheat (550 °L)
  • 4 oz (113.4 g) Chocolate Malt (350 °L)
  • 8 oz (226.8 g) Carafa II (430 °L)
  • 8 oz (226.8 g) Crystal 80 (80 °L)
  • Hops
  • 0.75 oz (21.26 g) Centennial Pellet 10.5% AA (Boil - 60 mins)
  • 0.75 oz (21.26 g) Centennial Pellet 10.5% AA (Boil - 30 mins)
  • 0.5 oz (14.17 g) mosaic Pellet 12% AA (Boil - 15 mins)
  • 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Cascade Pellet 7% AA (Boil - 15 mins)
  • 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Hallertauer Pellet 4.4% AA (Boil - 15 mins)
  • 0.5 oz (14.17 g) mosaic Pellet 12% AA (Boil - 0 mins)
  • Yeast
  • American Ale Yeast (Wyeast 1056) (Liquid)

Directions

Mash (Infusion): Mash at 154 °F (68 °C) with 4.4 gal (16.66 L) of water for 60 minutes.

Recommended Sparge: 172 °F (78 °C)

Hold in primary fermentor for 14 days at 73 °F (23 °C).

Allow to carbonate and age for 14 days.
