American-Style India Pale Ale - Extract

Recipe Description

Fairly standard, generic IPA. Hops to be determined by whatever is in my fridge.

Ingredients

  • Grains/Fermentables
  • 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg) Light Liquid Malt Extract (4 °L)
  • 1 lbs (0.45 kg) CaraMunich (45 °L)
  • 7 oz (198.45 g) Victory Malt (28 °L)
  • After Boil
  • 1 lbs (0.45 kg) Light Dry Malt Extract (4 °L)
  • 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg) Light Liquid Malt Extract (4 °L)
  • Hops
  • 1 oz (28.35 g) Citra Pellet 13.9% AA (First Wort - 60 mins)
  • 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Citra Pellet 13.9% AA (Boil - 60 mins)
  • 1 oz (28.35 g) Citra Pellet 13.9% AA (Boil - 15 mins)
  • 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Palisade Pellet 7.8% AA (Boil - 15 mins)
  • 1 oz (28.35 g) Citra Pellet 13.9% AA (Dry Hop)
  • 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Palisade Pellet 7.8% AA (Dry Hop)
  • 1 oz (28.35 g) Columbus Pellet 15% AA (Dry Hop)
  • Miscellaneous
  • 1/2 tsp (2.46 mL) Irish Moss (Boil - 15 mins)
  • Yeast
  • Safbrew S-33 (Dry)

Directions

Steep specialty grains and FWH hops at 155 F for 20 min. Remove and bring to boil. Add 3.3# LME and bring back up to a boil. Follow hops schedule. Add remaining malt extracts with 15 min remaining in boil. Cool. Pitch starter. Dry hop in secondary for 7-10 days or until cleared.

Hold in primary fermentor for 5 days at 67 °F (19 °C).

Transfer to secondary fermentor for 9 days at 67 °F (19 °C).

Allow to carbonate and age for 5 days at 36 °F (2 °C).
