Common ciders come in a number of varieties. Apple aroma and taste should be crisp and evident with some esters, alcohols and sulfur present in low levels in the aroma. Ciders may be dry or sweet, still or carbonated. Warming alcohol may be present at the upper end of the alcohol range. They have a light body and are clear, bright and are usually pale yellow in color. Astringency may be present in the finish as a drying sensation.
The styles listed are based on the Brewers Association 2011 Style Guidelines published by Brewers Association with changes.
