Final Review

Came out a little sweeter than I wanted this time but still very good. Not sure what I would do differently. I still love this recipe.

Taste Notes

Mix of sweet and bitter. The coffee comes through and it has a nice creamy taste.

Notes From Jan. 5, 2013 (Brewing)

Gravity Reading: 1.058

Pretty good brew day. I didn't realize I didn't have enough cocoa powder until I had already started and I didn't have time to get more. I only added 1.75 oz instead of 4 oz. It should be fine. The coffee is the highlight of this beer not the chocolate. Gravity came out a little low but I also have closer to 5.5 gallons in the fermentor.

Notes From Jan. 14, 2013 (Moving to Secondary)

Gravity Reading: 1.020

Added the coffee and moved to the secondary today. There was still a fair amount of activity on the airlock so I hope it continues to ferment for the next few weeks. It has a really nice smell but an overly sweet taste right now.

Notes From Feb. 3, 2013 (Bottling/Kegging)

Gravity Reading: 1.020

Didn't have time to bottle until today so it sat for an extra week. When I was mixing the sugar it was giving off a great smell. Tasted a little bit and it was pretty good. A little sweeter than I wanted but the coffee taste comes through. We'll see if it improves over the next few weeks.
