Got Gruit?

Up until this point, our recipes required hops. The bitterness and aroma of hops are what make beer...beer. Or at least the modern, more popular version of beer. Even before hops became popular, there was still beer. One of the more popular versions was Gruit, a.k.a. grut. The purpose of this site is to allow the creative brewers to experiment, share their recipe ideas, and create recipes that they want to brew again and again. The requirement of hops was an unnecessary restriction that has now been removed. In addition to enabling hop-less beer recipes, this also opens the site to ciders, meads, and even sodas. We look forward to seeing the recipes that you all create.

Also included in this update were quite a few infrastructure updates that you shouldn't notice. Many of the site users are part of the very large and active Beer/Homebrewing community on Google+. We appreciate the community access Google+ has provided us and we're beginning to leverage it more. If you have not done so already, please circle Brewed By Us on Google+. It will allow us to chat with you all about the features you'd like to see added to the site, and what you're brewing.
