Easy Way IPA
American-Style India Pale Ale - Extract
Recipe Description
Fairly standard, generic IPA. Hops to be determined by whatever is in my fridge.
Ingredients
- Grains/Fermentables
- 6.6 lbs (2.99 kg) Light Liquid Malt Extract (4 °L)
- 1 lbs (0.45 kg) Light Dry Malt Extract (4 °L)
- 1 lbs (0.45 kg) Crystal 40 (40 °L)
- 0.5 lbs (0.23 kg) Victory Malt (28 °L)
- Hops
- 1 oz (28.35 g) Palisade Pellet 7.8% AA (First Wort)
- 1 oz (28.35 g) Willamette Pellet 4.8% AA (Boil - 60 mins)
- 1 oz (28.35 g) Cascade Pellet 7.8% AA (Boil - 60 mins)
- 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Palisade Pellet 7.8% AA (Boil - 2 mins)
- 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Sterling Pellet 6% AA (Boil - 2 mins)
- 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Palisade Pellet 7.8% AA (Dry Hop)
- 0.5 oz (14.17 g) Sterling Pellet 6% AA (Dry Hop)
- Miscellaneous
- 1/2 tsp (2.46 mL) Irish Moss (Boil - 15 mins)
- Yeast
- Safale US-05 (Dry)
Directions
Steep specialty grains and FWH hops at 155 F for 20 min. Remove and bring to boil. Add extracts and bring back up to a boil. Follow hops schedule. Pitch starter. Dry hop in secondary for 7-10 days or until cleared.
Hold in primary fermentor for 5 days at 67 °F (19 °C).
Transfer to secondary fermentor for 9 days at 67 °F (19 °C).
Allow to carbonate and age for 5 days at 36 °F (2 °C).
